Gail Schwartz, State Senator, and Tom Massey, District 60 Representative, will provide legislative updates and information at the annual picnic of the League of Women Voters of Chaffee County. The event is Monday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Kate James at 30699 CR 361 in Buena Vista and is open to the public. RSVP to either Beth Smith at 539-4246, or Carol Sanford at Sanford@rockymountains.net.
A contribution of $5 per person is requested. The League will provide bratwurst and fixinigs, salads, and cold drinks. Please bring your own wine and beer.
The picnic is an opportunity to meet and talk with Ms. Schwartz and Mr. Massey. It also coincides with the annual membership drive. All interested persons, men and women, are invited to join the League.
“We are approaching the general election, which will include around 20 ballot issues,” said Beth Smith, LWVCC President. “We want to be sure everyone is well-informed about both sides of all issues, and we can use more members to help that happen.” Call Marjie Gray, membership chair, 395-8928, or Ms. Smith, 539-4246, for more information about joining.
The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
