Learn how to design and create a homescale edible food forest using permaculture design tools. Permaculture is about designing ecological human habitats and food production systems. It strives for harmonious integration of human dwellings, microclimate, annual and perennial plants, animals, soils and water into stable, productive communities. The focus is not on these elements themselves, but rather on the relationships created among them by the way we place them in the landscape. This synergy is further enhanced by mimicking patterns in nature.
In this three session workshop we will learn:
1. Permaculture principles and observation, April 17, 9 am - 1 pm, Salida Regional Library
2. Planning a food forest, May 1, 9 am - 1 pm, Salida Regional Library
3. Implementation and field trip, May 15, 9-11 am
There will be plenty of handouts and ample homework. Come prepared to roll up your sleeves and get involved!
Cost: For the three sessions: $70 GARNA members, $85 non-members
Minimum 10 participants
Pre-registration required, please register by visiting garna.org/seminars.htm.
